On September 10, 2021 right before the sabbath and in the midst of the holiest days of the Jewish year, someone made terrorist threats against the synagogue that the fifth generation of my family is now attending. This is my response.
I Am Not Afraid Of You
I am not afraid of you.
You can threaten me.
But I am not afraid of you.
You can close the synagogue.
But I am not afraid of you.
I ache for you and
the life that led you here.
But I am not afraid of you.
My heart is
Compassionate
Strong
Fearless.
And Whatever you do,
My heart will stay
Compassionate
Strong
Fearless.
Shalom
This is amazing. Writing poetry is definitely a way to express feelings in a way other writing sometimes cannot. Thanks for sharing!
Th bible tells me that I have not been given a spirit of fear so I am not afraid.
Beautifully said, Rachel.
